The South Coast AR-18 is now in store at Zak Surfboards (SHOP NOW). A model developed by Ian Chisholm in collaboration with multiple time Australian Open Longboard Champion Jason Blewitt. One board that does it all, from 1ft to 8ft. With this board you’ll be on the tip longer, turning sharper, with more flow & glide than you can imagine.
In the front end, this model features a slight nose concave. The rail in the nose tapers down in thickness courtesy of a small chime into a fairly sharp, refined rail. This combination of concave, taper and edge gives you fantastic purchase & control on the tip. The finer edge helps bite into the face for skip free noserides in steeper pocket. The concave generates plenty of lift to help you navigate softer, flatter and crumblier sections on the nose.
The sharper rail up front then significantly softens out into a forgiving, fuller & rounder rail through the guts of the board. This comparatively fuller rail helps keep the board catch free through turns. The concave in the nose flattens out into a very slight, rolled bottom through the middle of the board. This flatter bottom combined with the fuller rail helps to make the board feel super stable & controlled when you walking up and down the board.
The back third of the board features a unique combination of rocker, edge and single concave (a combo I’ve never seen on a longboard before). This combination gives you fantastic speed as well as the ability to cleanly break line. It allows for tighter and snappier arcs around the pocket & longer swooping carves at speed. The single concave cuts right through the generous flip in the tail helping you hold speed though turns (meaning you don’t wash off as much speed when you turn) with plenty of release courtesy of a decent amount of edge in the tail.
We have the South Coast AR-18 available in store in their new epoxy construction, H2 FLO Technology one like other Thunderbolt constructions, the H2Flo has a great strength, weight and lively feel underfoot. (SHOP NOW).
