The much awaited CI MID has landed in store at Zak Surfboards ( SHOP NOW ). This new addition to the Channel Islands range takes the best of retro Egg or Mid-length shapes and fuses it with a touch of modern design. The result is the perfect combination of trim, glide, speed and carve.
The CI MID has an outline taken straight from 70s Egg shapes. A forward wide point with plenty of area and foam up front. This then tapers to a narrower round tail. The rocker is fairly low in the front end, with a smooth medium curve through the back half of the board.
The bottom contour of the CI MID if fairly flat through the front third of the board. With a double barrel concave that starts way up the board and runs right through the fins and out the tail. This more modern bottom contour gives the CI MID more lift and squirt than traditional convex egg bottoms. So you’ll be able to get this board working in flatter, more disjointed, junky stuff as well. Not just the smooth glassy peelers that many retro egg shapes depend on.
