We have a full size run of the Channel Islands Mini in store at Zak Surfboards. Designed in collaboration with team rider Kalani Robb, the Mini was created to add a bit more performance & versatility to an easy surfing, fun surfboard shape. With an eye pleasing outline that draws heavily on classic fish shapes of the 70s and a few modern performance tweaks, Channel Islands have successfully created a very fun surfboard that performs in a wide range of conditions.
The Channel Islands Mini has a fairly relaxed or low rocker and broad outline. This combination gives you ample amounts of speed & glide plus pretty darn good wave catching abilities. A wider nose and extra thickness up front means that you can get you chest further forward on the board while paddling – which definitely helps to get you up and into waves super early.
The Mini has a fairly wide squash tail combined with an aggressive single to double concave bottom which gives this model heaps of board speed and lift – ensuring that you’ll be zipping down the line with ease in even the weakest conditions. Fairly low rails combined with with vee out the last part of the tail means makes this board quick to respond and really easy to redirect – as a result the Mini is much more responsive to surf than the dimensions would have you believe. Designed to have a blast in conditions ankle to head high, the Mini is definitely one of the better boards to check out if you are looking to add a groveler to your quiver.
